The First Period

To learn to express personal hobbies in one’s leisure time.

Procedures:
Step 1 Greetings and Lead-in
Greet the whole class.
Ask Ss to do Warm-up.
Ask Ss to recall and summarize the activities they usually do in their spare time.
Encourage students to practice the following sentence pattern:
Do you like to ______ this weekend?
Yes, I do. / No, I don抰.
1. read a book at home
2. play sports with friends
3. have a walk in the park
4. do some shopping at the supermarket
5. go fishing with your father
6. do your homework at home
Step 2 List ening 1
Learn the new words of this part.
Notes:
fish v. 钓鱼,捕鱼
dorm n. (=dormitory) 俗 宿舍
spare adj. 空余的,剩下的
2. Ask Ss to look at the listening materials before listening.
3. Play the tape. Ask Ss to do the match and give the reasons for their choices.
Play the tape again, and then check the answers with the whole class.
Script of listening:
1.Susan likes to go to the cinema with her friends.
2.Jack likes to play cards in his dorm.
3.Laura likes to watch TV in the library.
4.Tom likes to play football on weekends.
Step 3 Dialogue 1
Have students discuss the relationship between the two speakers and where the dialogue take place.
Explain the important phrases and divide the students into 3 groups to discuss and complete the dialogue with the words given below.
Play the tape and ask Ss to read after it, and then ask Ss to play the dialogue.
