A Novel Three-Phase Aviation Static Inverter Closed-Loop Control
System Based on the Internal Model Principle

Abstract The repetitive control approach was applied to the three-phase aviation static inverter
(ASI) based on the internal model principle in this paper. Consequently, a novel three-phase ASI
closed-loop system was presented and the output voltage harmonics of the system caused by non-linear
loads or unbalanced loads can be reduced distinctly. The simplified model and open-loop frequency
responses of the three-phase aviation static inverter were figured out under the synchronous coordinate
system firstly in the paper. Then, the internal model generator was designed, and the control parameters
of its compensator in frequency domain were derived carefully to form the three-phase ASI closed-loop
system in which the control processes of the d and q coordinate models of the ASI are independent with
each other. Finally, the prototype was completed, and the simulation and experiment results show that
the output voltage wave distortion caused by non-linear loads can be reduced, and control approach in
this paper is feasible and correct.
