Basic on this reason, Sherlock and Watson begin to crack the criminal case and finally they save the woman . Main characters : Sherlock Holmes : the famous detective in London Dr Watson : the assistant of Sherlock and he is a doctor Lady Frances Carfex :she is the woman who disappeared A strange English man : he is a friend of Sherlock and he loves Lady Frances Dr Schlesinger his wife : they are the criminals who kidnap(绑架) Lady Frances and steel her jewelry. 2 Main Plots of the story The story begins with a talk between Watson and Sherlock on shoes and bath Sherlock invite Watson to have a holiday in Switzerland . Actually he wants Watson to collect information there. Sherlock give Watson some information about the disappeared lady . Then Watson begins his trip . Watson find some acquaintances of Lady Frances and got some information of the days before her disappearance. Later Watson goes to National Hotel in Lausanne , in which he know that there is a strange man has met with the lady . He then check the local travel companies to find out the route which the lady take. At Baden-Banden Watson notices that two persons ( who are the criminals) have touch with the lady and they had left for three weeks. After telling Sherlock about this ,Sherlock tells Watson to describe the man’s left ear. Next Watson meets the strange man and has a fight with him . However he is a friend of Sherlock!! The man explain the past time about him and the lady . Then he decides to help them to find the truth With a massage they know that the two persons who go with the lady are the criminals .
