INTRODUCTION ?Plate Mill Plate Mill and Plate Treatment Plants produce plate products that are used for various industrial applications ranging from general engineering to mining equipments. Plates are rolled from 240mm slabs, reduced to 4.5mm minimum thickness. As rolled materials are usually used for general construction applications where moderate strength and welding is recommended. Slabs are re-heated at 1200 ? C; this is an important stage of rolling because it controls the amount of micro-alloying elements taken into solution and also the starting grain size.
