The first run should be limited to a low speed and low load, preferably no load. The run should continue for only three to five minutes after which the engine should be shut down and all external surfaces(should be) checked for over heating. If there is no sign of over heating externally, the crankcase inspection doors should be removed and a check(should be) made on internal bearings and running gear to ensure that all temperatures are normal. If the engine is found to be in order after inspection it may be restarted and run for a little longer. During the first running balancing the load between the cylinders must be done. On each cylinder head will be found a special valve to which a pressure indicator can be fitted.
