The aesthetics in translation The concept From the perspective of aesthetics（美学）, the procedure of translation is composed of aesthetic expression (美的表现)、 aesthetic appreciation(美的审视) and aesthetic reproduction（美的再现）. The aesthetics in translation Aesthetic recognition It would be good if the translator takes advantage of his aesthetic recognition(审美意识) to explore different elements of beauty.It’s the foundation and basis of aesthetic conversion and aesthetic polishing. For example,there is a practice : These robots come in all sizes, shapes and colors. In the sentence, “come in” is a usual phrase, which has many meanings. “ Come in” can stand for entering,rising,becoming fashionable etc. Here we can omit it in translation.We can translate the sentence in this way: 这些机器人大小不一、形态各异、色彩缤纷。 Practice two: The governments of most of the developed countries have always applied a large proportion of their total resources to the development of destructive apparatuses(杀伤性器械) and nowadays many of the newly-independent countries are doing the same. Translate “doing the same ” into “干同样的事”is not proper enough. So we can translate it into “亦步亦趋、纷纷效仿”. Aesthetic conversion (审美转换) is an essential section in the aesthetic activities. The translator will write down the aesthetic details after reading the source language. Because source language and target language originate from different culture,so aesthetic conversion consists of converting the formation and the mind. However,we cannot add our subjective judgments to the translation ,which will change its meaning.We can only translate according to the ori
