Department of Materials cience, Lanzhou University, Lanzhou 730000 Received 25 April 2005; received in revised form 1 eptember 2005; accepted 2 eptember 2005 Abstract: The environmental impacts of electrolytic nickel and copper produced by nickelcopper coexistence ore were investigated by the life cycle assessment. ome environmental load datum of copper and nickel was obtained. The new allocation method of environmental load about process of the coproduction by reaction heat of metallurgy and the comparisonof the allocation method by mass of materials were presented. The results indicated that environmental loadof nickelwere more than that of copper, and the allocation method was more reasonable by reaction heat of metallurgy in the process of coproduction.
