Oreochromis nilotica will hide i the holes whe scared by the fishi g haul or other provocatio . This would make the fishi g operatio very difficult, a d the fishi g rate very low . With the ordi ary sei e et, the fishi g rate of first haul is always u der 30% , a d the total fishi g rate for the first three hauls is about 50%. O the basis of the study o the behavior of Oreochromis nilotica, a ew fishi g gear, a sei e with a curtai et, is desig ed. O the ewly desig ed sei e, there is a curtai et betwee the si k li e a d the bolch li e. The bolch li e is much lo ger tha the foot li e, a d will be loose e ough i fishi g operatio to get i to the hole to scare out the fish which is hidde i the hole. The ewly desig ed sei e was tested i four Oreochromis nilotica pools i Ya tai a d two Oreochromis nilotica pools i Taia respectively. The results show that the fishi g rate is over 60% for the first haul, a d the total fishi g rate for the first three hauls is above 90% .
