Abstract:Objective To study the effect of puerarin on the expression of Bcl-2 and Bax protein in focal cerebral ischemia-reperfu-
sion. Methods The rat models w ere established by middle cerebral artery occlusion ( MCAO) and reperfusion. T otal of 40 healthy
male Sprague Daw ley ( SD) rates were divided randomly into 4 groups: Sham operation group, cerebral ischemia group, large dose of
puerarin group and low dose of puerarin group. T he ischemic zone w as detected by tetraphenyl tetrzolium chloride staining . The ex-
pression of Bc-l 2 and Bax protein w ere analyzed by immunohistochemistry. The neural cells apoptosis were measured by terminal de-
oxynucleotidyl transferase-mdiated dUTP nick end labeling (T UNEL) . Results Compared w it h the cerebral ischemia group, the size
