Th is p ap er p ropo ses a new fingerp rint enhancem ent algorithm ba sed on wavelet tran sform and Ga bor filtering. Then twodim en sional Gabor filters is imp lem ented by two onedim en sional filters. The algorithm can imp rove the clarity and continu ity of ridge and valley structure s. The comp lexity is reduced. The exp erim ental re su lts on the fingerp rints supported by FPS200 Sen sor show that the p ropo sed algorithm is fast, effective and robu st.
