Laser perforation of precision cuts for integrated airbag solutions The product series JENOPTIK - VOTAN™ A (Airbag) employs laser technology to produce integrated precision cuts in vehicle instrument panels for airbag applications. The laser produces a series of blind holes in the rear-side of the panel to create the desired contour and the airbag deploys from this weakened structure. A specially developed patented sensor technology prevents a full, through - hole from being created and hence a series of blind holes with precise characteristics are generated. This creates the so - called micro - perforation contour in the material and it tears exactly along this path when the airbag deploys.
