新加坡银行公会 重庆市金融发展服务中心 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JOINT MEDIA RELEASE SINGAPORE-CHINA (CHONGQING) FINANCIAL CONFERENCE TO FOSTER COLLABORATION AND STRENGTHEN FINANCIAL CONNECTIVITY 1 Singapore, 22 July 2016…The Singapore-China (Chongqing) Financial Conference (“SCFC”) was held in Chongqing, China today. The event was organised by The Association of Banks in Singapore and Chongqing Financial Development Service Center (FDSC), and supported by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), Chongqing Financial Affairs Office, and Chongqing Connectivity Initiative Administrative Bureau. MAS Managing Director, Mr Ravi Menon, and Chongqing Vice Mayor Mr Liu Guiping delivered speeches during the Forum. 2 The one-day conference was organised for the purpose of promoting collaboration and interaction between Singapore and Chongqing financial institutions and corporates, in support of the objective of strengthening financial connectivity under the Chongqing Connectivity Initiative (CCI). The CCI was announced in November 2015 during China’s President Mr Xi Jinping’s State Visit to Singapore, and marked the third government-to- government collaboration project between Singapore and China. Cooperation under CCI covers four areas, including (i) financial services; (ii) aviation; (iii) transport and logistics; and (iv) information and communications technology. 3 More than 400 financial sector professionals and corporate leaders from Singapore and Chongqing participated in the SCFC. In conjunction with the conference, 28 agreements were signed, with the total value of deals exceeding USD 1.6bn.
