Methods Medical records of patients who have received FFP transfusions in 2009 were investigated and analyzed. Indexes include volume of FFP, the situations of using FFP in different department and the standard coagulation tests in patients. Results A total of 5570 FFP transfusions given to 2036 patients were analyzed. 49.1% of patients have received FFP transfusion only once, 14.5% of patients have received no more than 2U plasma. On average, the volume of each FFP transfusion to patients of surgical departments was a little more than that of non-surgical departments’ patients. Patients in department of thoracic surgery, department of gastroenterology and department of orthopedics have received more FFP than patients in other departments. 191 patients (9.4%) have received
