So the development of marshy soil resources is of vital importance to the economic prosperit y of eastern China. In order to develop China ’s marshy soil rationally , it is neces sary to understand the properties of the soil , and the soil resources classification is thus funda mental to it . To this end , a scientific classification system for marshy soil resources should be set up. The particle , based on the above viewpoint , discusses the problems existing in quali tative and quantitative classification of China’s marshy soils. In light with marshy soil prop erties ,a series of diagnostic horizons and diagnostic characteristics of China’s marshy soils are put forth. Based on the given diagnostic horizons and diagnostics of China ’s marshy soil , the advanced soil taxonomic system including soil order , soil suborder , soil group , and soil sub group is worked out .
