While this was not initially a deliberate goal, it did encourage business and consumers to consider the Apple brand for the first time and was successful in generating increased profits. ; Google Logo with text;;International Business Machines Logo with text;In 1924, the company adopted the name International Business Machines Corporation. ;In the late 1940s, IBM began a difficult transition of punched-card tabulating to computers, led by its CEO Thomas J. Watson.
