Introduction to optical thin films
Optical film
All kinds of film interference phenomena of light by using optical film refers to the physical and chemical methods such as deposition in optical devices or optoelectronic components, the surface to change its optical properties to produce antireflective, reflection, light, color, band-pass or cut-off optical phenomena. It can be divided into antireflection film, high reflection film, filter, beam splitter, polarization and depolarization of the membrane. The application of optical films began in 1930s. In modern times, optical thin films have been widely used in the field of Optics and optoelectronics, producing various optical instruments.
The characteristics of optical thin films is: smooth surface, film interface between geometric segmentation; film refractive index can jump at the interface, but the film is continuous; can be a transparent medium, can also be absorption medium; can be normal uniform, can also be used to uneven.
Fundamentals of optical thin films:
1. using the interference effect of light, when light is incident on the film deposited by different refractive index material, some special optical characteristics are produced.
Classification: the optical film can be divided into metal film and nonmetal film on the basis of different materials.
A. metal film: mainly used as mirrors and semi mirrors. In all kinds of flat or curved mirrors, or various prism, are required according to Al, Ag, Au with Cu, such as a variety of different materials. Different materials have different characteristics on the spectrum. The reflectivity of AI has good reflectivity in the ultraviolet, visible and near infrared light. It is one of the most common materials used in the mirror. The reflectivity of Ag film in visible and near infrared light is higher than that of AI film, but it loses luster because of its oxidation.
