Abstract: The experiment show s that there exist noticeable difference in water requirement among
cement powder samples with different size distribution at same fluidity degree, that means differ
ent size distribution of powder determines different packing density of it. A nd a formula of pack
ing density of powder with continuous grain size distribution in paste is proposed. The experi
ment proves that with this formula the packing density of powder could be calculated as long as
the size distribution of the cement were known.
