引言 What is interdisciplinary research? “It is a mode of research by teams or individuals that integrates information, data, techniques, tools, perspectives, concepts, and/or theories from two or more disciplines or bodies of specialized knowledge to advance fundamental understanding or to solve problems whose solutions are beyond the scope of a single discipline or area of research practice. ” Why is interdisciplinary research needed? “In recent decades, the growth of scientific and technical knowledge has prompted scientists, engineers, social scientists, and humanists to join in addressing complex problems that must be attacked simultaneously with deep knowledge from different perspectives. ” 作为独立学科，语用学出现于20世纪60、70年代、成熟于80年代。 进入90年代以后，语用学得到快速发展，研究内容不断拓展与深化。 除指示语、前提关系、言语行为、会话含意、语言礼貌等基于语言本身的传统议题外，涌现了语用学与其它学科相结合的交叉跨面研究，或借用其它学科的研究方法。 语用学存在跨学科、交叉属性。如： 多样性“定义”体现研究的多元化（如Levinson 1983等) micropragmatics macropragmatics (Mey 1993, Cap 2010)体现研究的多元化。 跨文化语用学、社会语用学、文学语用学、语篇语用学、语际语用学、认知语用学、发展语用学、临床语用学、实验语用学等跨学科研究分支。 近年，网络语用学(cyberpragmatics)、批评语用学(critical pragmatics)等新的研究领域正在兴起。 这些表明了语用学的跨学科发展趋势十分明显。 长期以来，国际语用学研究会(IPrA)所主张的语用学研究及成果，始终体现出一种宏观的语用学思想，强调从社会、文化、认知等多元视角探究语言与交际中的语用问题并进行阐释。 Journal of Pragmatics, Pragmatics, Intercultural Pragmatics等国际期刊的成果也体现出语用学研究的宏观视野，涉及语言的、文化的、社会的、认知的等语境因素的介入，而非狭义的语言语用研究。 Empirical Foundations of Theoretical Pragmatics (EFTP) is a new international peer-reviewed forum for high-quality work in pragmatics. It is devoted to research that draws on data from a wide array of languages, socially varied populations and diverse situations to address pertinent issues in theories of language interpretation, and to explore the interaction between pragmatics and neighboring fields.
