In order to improve the understanding and design level, it is necessary to use modern analysis method and test method to predict the performance and monitor the construction of the designed structure. Therefore, the design of deep mixing pile retaining wall should include: scheme comparison, structural design and calculation, character prediction and monitoring. The Key words: geotechnical engineering; mixing pile; retaining wall; design; discussion 1 the advantages and disadvantages of deep mixing pile retaining wall in practical engineering applications 1.1 the deep mixing pile retaining structure has the following advantages compared with other supporting systems. The (1) no vibration, no noise, no mud and wastewater pollution during construction. The (2) the construction is easy to operate, the construction period is shorter and the cost is lower. The (3) when the foundation pit is excavated, bracing anchor is not needed, and no well point dewatering is needed outside the pit. The (4) the performance of water separation and seepage prevention is good, and the water level difference can be found inside and outside the foundation pit. The (5) the foundation pit is clean and spacious, which is conducive to civilized construction and safe production, and facilitates the construction of the later stage. The (6) the foundation deformation around the foundation pit is small, and it has little influence on adjacent buildings or underground facilities. The (7) the top surface of the retaining wall can be used to drive the const
