Correspondent: XUE X iang-x in, E-mail: xuexx @ mail. neu. edu. cn) Abstract: A glass-ceramics w as prepared w ith oil shale residue as primar material. The compositions of glass-ceramics and selection of both main cr stallization and nucleating agents w ere discussed. T he effects of nucleating agents and heat treatment procedure on glass-ceramics w ere anal zed b means of DTA, XRD and SEM. The results showed that the composite nucleating agent TiO + P O can efficientl step up the cr stallization of such a glass-ceramics. 2 2 5 T he optimal heat treatment procedure w as found as nucleating at 850 for 100 min and the cr stallizing at 980 for 80 min. T he major and minor cr stallization phases of the glass-ceramics is hedenbergite and anorthite, respectivel . T here are several peaks found in the infrared absorption band, and the cr stals present fibrous structures in staggered distribution. The service performance of the glass-ceramics thus prepared is evidentl better than that of other building and decorative materials, such as ceramic tile, marble and granite. Key words:
