International structure change after the Cold War The end of the Cold War caused a fundamental change in the international situation, which had a great influence on international structure, including the relationship with the United States. Reasons 1990-1997: gradually alienated After the Cold War, the relation with the United States was gradually alienated. International public voice had it that Germany would become US’s most important diplomatic partner in replace of Britain.
