School of Mathematics and Statistics, Lanzhou University, Lanzhou 730000, China Abstract: Three invasive interactions (i.e. intraguild predation, competition and a simple food chain) were considered in investigating into the key factors determining successful invasion by means of the discrete event model. Simulation results showed that an exotic species using intraguild predation would have much larger probability of successful invasion than the other two methods. The abundance of alien species would continuously increase, and the species thus would persist. The parameter region of successful invasion should be wider under intraguild predatio
