The mechanism of the film-forming on the iron surface w as discussed. T he drag reduction efficiency of stearic imidazoline w as tested on the drag re- duction test loop. The film-forming property of stearic imidazoline w as studied by electrochemical characterization and SEM . T he results show that stearic imidazoline is adsorbed on the iron surface and smooth membrane is formed. The roughness of the gas pipeline is significantly improved. U nder the condition of 8 g/ L stearic imidazoline and 1 h, the maximum drag reduction efficiency is 8. 7% . It is a valuable reference to practical industrial development.
