Methods The clinical data of 151 patients with pemphigus were analyzed retrospectively. Results In the total 151 patients, 57.6% were complicated with infections. The most common was skin infection by S.aureus, followed by the respiratory system infection. The related factors of infection concluded diabetes, hypoproteinemia, severity and classifi cation of the disease, treatment, dose of steroid and hospitalization days, meanwhile hypoproteinemia also affected the severity of the infection. Infection affected the prognosis of pemphigus, and the main cause lead to death was pulmonary infection. Conclusion Providing positive and effective anti-infection treatment has an important role in the treatment of pemphigus. Sometimes it’s also need to improve the hypoproteinemia, reduce the dose of steroid as far as possible and be combined with intravenous immunoglobulin therapy if necessary.
