In order to illustrate the reason of severer redu tion in harvest, the environment stru ture, the dorsal mantle length ompositions of flying squid and the stoma h ontents of some harvested squid have been analyzed. The wandering of Kuroshio in south of Japan, the puniness of Kuroshio, and the ooler of the water in the northern part of the o ean are the known disadvantages in hydrologi stru ture. The redu tion in abundan e of flying squid in the western part of the o ean was the important reason for de lining of the at h in the area. The poor food abundan e happened to be another unfavorable fa tor. But in the eastern part of the o ean, what worked most on the failure of produ tion was the poor a knowledge of the s hools, whi h aused an earlier withdrawal of fishing vessels from the wa
