Currently, China is consuming about 500 million tons of crude oil annually. How much is imported? What’s its impacts on China’s economy and society? Everyday, 2-3 tanks, each with a capacity of 300, 000 tons, are shipping crude oil to feed our refineries! What’s the role of fuels and energy derived from renewable biomass resources? * The String of Pearls refers to the Chinese sea lines of communication which extend from the Chinese mainland to Port Sudan.
