The phase and morphology of the as-prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffrac- tion and transmission electron microscopy. The formation mechanism of rod-like MnWO4 was proposed. The results showed that pure MnWO4 microcrystallites could be prepared in the pH value range of 4.0–11.0, and the crystallinity and grain size of products in- creased with increasing of the pH value. Correspondingly, the morphology transformed from grain-like to rod-like. Key words: microwave hydrothermal method; manganese tungsten; microcrystallites [1]
