D st removal by plants was proposed as an important basis of designing rban green space system for f tr e r2 banization. D st removal meas rement and leaf s rface elect ron2microscopic scanning were taken for 28 tree species in Harbin city. The res lts showed that there were obvio sly different effects of d st removal among dif2 ferent tree species. Picea koraiensis and Juniperus rigida were the ideal conifers for d st removal, and their d st removal abilities were 51 7 g# m- 2 and 41 4 g# m- 2 after 4 weeks, respectively. Populus alba @ berolinensis, onicera maackii, and Prunus maackii were the ideal decid o s tree species, and t heir d st removal abilities were respectively 119 g#m- 2 , 210 g#m- 2 , and 21 45 g#m- 2 after 2 weeks. Observation nder electronic micro2 scope showed that tree species,having deep channels or dense hair on leaf s rface had greater effects of d st re2 moval,while tree species,which had str mose project ions on leaf s rface, had weaker effects.
