G raduate University of the Ch inese Academ y of Sciences, Beijing 100049, Ch ina) A b stract: A novel hydrogel bead, ch itosangpoly( acrylic acid) / halloys ite / sodium alginate, was prepared by the ion ic gelation m ethodE ffects of halloysite content on sw elling property, encapsulation efficiency and drug release for drug loaded in the com pos ite hydrogel beads were investigatedA pH sensitive and the release k inetics of d iclofenac sod ium from the hydrogel beads w ere also studiedThe results indicated that the halloys ite con tent obvious influenced the swelling ratio, encapsu lation efficiency and diclofenac sodium cum ulative release of the d iclofenac sodium loaded hydrogel beads.
