Energy Saving Technology for Blast Furnace of NIPPON STEEL SUMIKIN ENGINEERING ·1 · Study on Stamping Properties of Galvalume Coating Ding Zhilong 1 ( Technology Center of Baosteel Meishan Iron Steel Co., Ltd., Nanjing 210039, China) Abstract As hot-dip material of steel substrate, Galvalume alloy has good corrosion resistance. But the Galvalume coating will have crack when it is deformed, so it is very necessary to study the reasons. In this paper, the reason of the coating cracks have been found by using stamping test and 180 degree bending test for different coating thickness (weight ) hot-dipping galvalume steel sheet . The coating of hot-dipping galvalume and transition layers have been tested by SEM and EDS to study crack reasons. The results as follows: coating thickness (weight )is the main reason of crack, coating lateral deformation bending and tensile stress tendency will become smaller with the decrease of coating thickness.With the result of SEM and EDS, Fe, Al and Si are the main elements in the crack position. In the deformation process, Galvalume alloy transition layers crack more easily relatively to the coating .So the transition layers thickness is the main reason of stamping crack. With the decrease of Galvalume alloy transition layers thickness, the coating crack trend become smaller. Combining Galvalume coating production process, coating thickness and alloy layer thickness have optimized to improve Galvalume coating products forming performance by demonstrating crack reason using actual stamping results.
