Dalian Naval Academy, Dalian 116018, China) Abstract: In this paper, the fuzzy-set theory is introduced briefly, and aiming at the feature that the occurrence probability of fault event in certain type gyro compass usually shows fuzzy and random, the fuzzy-set theory is inducted into the fault tree analysis. The fuzzy information collected from the faults occurred in various part is scientifically and quantitatively processed. It could be concluded that this is an efficient fault analysis approach over the conventional one for handling random and fuzzy problems.
