FLOTHERM V4.1 Introductory Training Course FLOTHERM/L/05/03 V4.1 Issue 1.0 Lecture 7A Introduction to Command Center Introduction The “base case” that we have built now gives an accurate indication of temperatures for the scenario defined. If the temperatures are too hot will design changes bring them down? If the temperatures are cool enough is the design over-engineered? Maximizing Productivity A Relatively Large Investment of Time has been made building the “base case”. Command Center allows you to take advantage of this investment. It does this by allowing you to test your model in different scenarios. And it allows you to optimize your model’s thermal design. Where to Start Load your base case. Click the Command Center icon. The Controls Operate Command Center From Left to Right. Working through the tabs as follows : Input Variable Graphical Input Output Variables Scenario Table Solution Monitoring 5 Steps to Command Center Input Variables Double-click the parameter that you want to vary The ‘Use as Input Variable in Scenario’ choice will be toggled on Define the variation required by using Ad Hoc Linear Design Parameter Linear Function Scenario/Reset can be used to clear all settings in Command Center. Input Variables Ad Hoc Linear Design Parameter Linear Function Input Variables Ad Hoc Allows you to defined all variants to the base case manually. Use the “Append” button to add a variation. Input Variables Linear Allows an Input Variable to varied with a specified increment. Enter the “Step Size” and “Number of Steps” to define the variants. Input Variables Design Parameter Used for setting the valid range of an Input Variable (Minimum and Maximum values) A pre-requisite for the automated design tools: “Design of Experiments” and “Sequential Optimization” Input Variables Linear Function Allows linear relationships (y = ax + b) to be defined between ‘Design Parameters’.
