The analysis of the department for the Escape to the Wild Company

Introduction: Escape to the Wild is a successful company, which sells specialist clothing for outdoor leisure pursuits through mail order and through a small number of retail outlets. But now it doesn’t have a human resources department. This report will introduce four activities that the function will undertake, the purpose of the activities and the importance for helping the company to succeed. Also give the advice of set up human resource department, and the psychological contract with the human resource function.
There are many human resource management activities.
1. Human resource planning
1) Definition of human resource planning:
Human resource planning is the process of analyzing an organization’s likely future need for people in terms of numbers, skills and locations.
2) The purpose of human resource planning:
To ensure that firm has right number of people, in the right place, with the right skills at the right time.
To support firm’s expansion strategy
To forecast personnel needs and supply of candidates both of inside and outside.
3) Process of human resource planning
Forecast personnel needs
The expected demand for company’s product of service is most important when forecasting personnel needs. The usual process is therefore to forecast revenues first. Then estimate the size of the staff required to achieve this volume. In addition, other factors also should be considered, such as turnover, strategic decisions, technology, and financial resources availability.
Forecast the supply of inside candidates
A qualifications inventory can facilitate forecasting the supply of internal candidates. Qualifications inventories contain summary data such as current employees’ performance record, educational background, and promotability, compiled either manually or in a computerized system.
