Aims: By the end of the lesson, students are able to 1), use the key vocabulary to talk about the weather in different countries key vocabulary: rainy, windy, cloudy, snowy, weather, Boston, Moscow. 2),use the target languages to ask for weather target languages — Hows the weather in Beijing? (= Whats the weather like in Beijing?) — Its sunny. 3), sum up the word-making: Rain rainy, wind windy, cloud cloudy snow snowy, sun sunny ,talk about the weather. ,talk about the immediate activities. ,improve their ability of listening and speaking 1),understand the regional variation in the world. Teaching contents : It’s raining Students : junior 1 (38 students ) Time and Date : 8:209:05 Monday 21 May, 2013 Teaching aids : Micro Power-point (PPT) Teaching Procedure Step Ⅰ Revision (5 munites) Show some pictures and ask questions: What are they doing? Whats she/ he doing? (let’s begin our class. It’s a nice day , right ? Last week we have learned the present progressive tense , so do you guys still remember it? Let’s review it. ) Object : Students revise the old knowledge to prepare for learning new knowledge. Step Ⅱ Presentation (1 munite) Show the last picture and question: Is he playing basketball now? Why not? The teacher helps Ss answer the questionBecause it is raining. and present the new words: weather. Then teach Ss to read more . Object :Students learn new items by reviewing old knowledge. Step Ⅲ Presentation and learning (5 munites) Show some weather signs.Then ask students Do you know them? ”Show the weather words and teach students to read.The teacher shows the weather words including n. and adj. Ask Ss to find out the rules
