Unit 5 First Aid for Burns (Reading教案) Teaching goals Knowledge goals 1 .Make the students know the general meaning of the passage. 2. Make the students understand some important words and phrases in this passage. Such as: injury, bleed, organ, poison, swell, damage, wound, mild, squeeze, symptom, etc. 3. Make the students understand some important sentence structures in this passage. Ability goals Improve the reading ability of students by teaching them how to get the main idea of each part of the passage quickly. Moral goals 1. Enable the students to have the ability to use what they’ve learnt in the class to do some first aid treatment correctly. 2. Increase the awareness of the importance of knowing about first aid. Key teaching points and difficult points 1. How to improve the students’ reading ability. 2. How to grasp the main idea of each paragraph or the whole passage. List some emergency and ask the students to answer what to do in that situation. Step2. Pre-reading I will bring out a lighter and pretend to burn my hand. Ask the students to brainstorm some first aid treatment for burns to help me. Then let the students to check their answers in the passage. Step3. Fast reading Ask the students to skim the passage quickly. Then divide the passage into several parts. The purpose is to let them get the general meaning of the passage. This task is to check the students’ skimming ability. And the students are required to finish the
