Unit 9 My favorite subject is science.
Section A (1a-2d)
Ⅰ. Teaching aims:
1) words:
Subjects: Chinese, math, English, politics, history, geography, biology, I.T., P.E., music, art.
Description words: difficult, relaxing, interesting, fun, boring.
2) Sentences:
1. What is your/her/his favorite subject?
2. My/Her/His favorite subject(s) is/are ...
3. Why do you like …?
Because (I think) it’s….
3) Moral object:
Teachers are like candles, burning themselves, devoted to others.
I hope you will be a devoted person.
Ⅱ. Teaching important and difficult points:
Remember subjects and know how to express one’s favorite subjects
Ⅲ. Teaching aids:
Multimedia, a blackboard and magic boxes.
Ⅳ. Teaching procedures
Step 1 Greetings
Greet the whole class as usual.
Step 2 Revision
Sing a song and review words of days, such as Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. And the teacher will pass a question to the whole class---“What’s your favorite day? Why?” After that, the teacher bring them to a new lesson---Unit 9 My favorite subject is science. (Section A 1a-2d)
Step 3 Lead-in and presentation
The teacher says, “ Yesterday, I met my teacher of my Senior High School. He teaches math. And he told us, ‘Teachers are like candles, burning themselves, devoted to others. I hope you will be a devoted person.’” Next, the teacher will guide the students to meet their teachers and guess who he is or who she is.
Step 4 Words learning and practice
1. Learn and practice
In the process of the guessing game, the students will learn such subjects as Chinese, math, English, politics, history, geography, biology, I.T., P.E., music, art. And then, they will follow the teacher to read together.
2. Get the missing words.
These words will be gone quickly. The students will stand up and speak the word out as fast as they can if they get the word.
