I. INTRODUCTION

Purpose
The overall objective of the competency-based training program is to provide trainers and instructional designers with a step-by-step guide for developing competency-based training. The training manual is intended to develop within instructors the ability to create a competency-based course based on instructional design principles.
Training Objectives
Trainers develop a working knowledge of competency-based training
Trainers are able to create a course description based on competency-based, instructional (CBID) principles.
Trainers are able to integrate the key principles of CBID within their courses
Trainers are able to implement teaching strategies related to the integration of CBID into their particular teaching area
Training Activities and Delivery
Trainees will read the training materials and then engage in a three-hour training session where they will complete the exercises included in this manual and engage in group discussions. Tr
