All polymers can exhibit the shape memory effect . Materials Apparatus: Chemical agents polyvinyl alcohol glutaraldehyde 36%hydrogen chloride deionized water Apparatus magnetic stirrer injector beaker shape glass tubes Procedure Phenomena ( including the figures of experiment devices ): 1、In a type experiment, 0.4 mL GA was added to 10 mL aqueous PVA solution (8 wt %) with pH=4. After homogeneous stirring, the mixture was injected into certain shaped glass tubes, with a diameter of 5 mm. the cross-linking reaction was conducted for 36 h at room temperature (25℃). 2、The sample was washed with deionized water to remove the catalytic HCl; and then it was dried for 48 h at room temperature in air and under vacuum.
