as...as在GRE中的考察

The tree is as tall as the building(is) . 注意此结构也常用于形象比喻中:as cool as cucumber 沉着冷静,泰然处之;as stubborn as a mule倔得像头骡子;as clear as crystal 像水晶一样透明;as poor as a church mouse 像教堂里面的老鼠一样穷,一贫如洗;as busy as a bee 像蜜蜂一样忙碌;as easy as ABC 像 ABC 一样容易;as deep as a well 像井一样深,难以捉摸的;as light as a feather 轻如鸿毛;as soft as butter 像黄油一样软;性格软弱注:如果是该种用法出现在填空当中,则可以将不同人或物的特性进行取同。“as …as…” This swimming pool is as wide as it is long. “as …as…” 在否定句中结构是“ so/as…as…”。例如:He was as handsome as his wife was beautiful . He was as experienced as his brother was green . He cannot run so/as fast as you. Danny is not so/as wise as he is witty . “as …as…”结构的修饰语该结构根据情况可用使用以下修饰语:(not) nearly, almost, just, nothing like, exactly, not quite, half, one-ten, twice, three times, 30 per cent等,并且这些修饰语必须置于第一个as之前,而不能置于其后。如:He doesn’t play half as well as his sister. This dress is twice as expensive as that. “as …as…” When over forty, he married a woman poor as himself. The pianos in that shop will be cheaper, but not as good. They found that those who ate the most fast food were nearly twice as likely to be diagnosed with depression as those who ate little or none.To meet the rapidly rising market demand for fish and seafood, suppliers are growing fish twice as fast as they grow naturally, cutting their feed allotment by nearly half and raising them on special diets.Thomas Eakinss powerful style and his choices of subject--the advances in modern surgery, the discipline of sport, the strains of individuals in
