Governments Should Focus On Solving The Immediate Problems Of Today Rather Than On Trying To Solve The Anticipated Problems Of The Future.? It is widely acknowledged that governments are set to serve the people. Thus governments should solve problems for us. However, there has always been a debate that whether governments should focus on the immediate problems of today rather than on trying to solve the anticipated problems of the future. This is a good question and both sides should be carefully analyzed. It is obvious that the immediate problems of today is urgent, otherwise it can not be called problems. For example, the CPI today in China is very high. Governments should focus on solving it, or the high level of inflation will cause the instability of the whole society. If a government can not solve some urgent problems, people may fight against the government and the society may not function well. While it is immediate to solve the immediate problems of today, it may also cause big problems if we only focus on the immediate problems of today. Some problems need to be solved at once, but governments should not only pay attention to immediate problems. Like what happened (and it is still happening)in some developing countries, governments only pay attention to the economic growth while ignoring the environment. The fast economic growth is based on heavy use of natural resources and the destruction of environment. It is sure that this is a bad phenomenon and will do great harm to the human being in the long run. People who hold the view that governments should focus on the anticipated problems in the future thinks that if we do not have a long time planning we may be ruined by ourselves. We can also take the environment as an example. It is true that protecting the environment is to protect the future of human. If the environment is destroyed, our earth will become a place unsuitable for all living things. So governments should pay attention to solve it.
