Teaching aims:
The learners will be able to:
1. understand and practice using the following words and phrases: religion, theory, billion, violent, atmosphere, unlike, fundamental, harmful, chain, multiply, exist, thus, give birth to, in one’s turn, prevent…from, in time;
2. talk about and get the information of the development of life on the earth from the text through skimming and scanning;
3. pay attention to discourse markers and sentence connectors in the passage and organize information logically they get from the text in the order of time;
4. learn to use noun clauses.
Important points:
Students will learn and understand the development of life on the earth.
Difficult points:
Students can use their own words to retell the development of life on the earth logically.

1. What’s astronomy?

3. What interests you in astronomy?
