Taboos are practices or verbal expressions considered by a society or culture as improper or unacceptable, so that we should know each other’s taboos during the communication. Every culture has its special taboos due to the different social customs or religions, such as taboos in festival, diet, society, life and so on. There is a big distinction between taboos in Chinese culture and western culture, and many taboos derive from the religions.Key Word: Taboos, Chinese culture, Western culture, ReligionIntroductionTaboo is a religious action and religious phenomenon, the same as the idea and consciousness of the divine. The ancients once distinguish the holy God and ordinary things, to treat different from ordinary things forbidden provisions on, so it is a religious taboo.Religion?is?the?product?of?the?development?of?human?society?to?a?certain?stage.?It?is?the?exploration?of?the?unknown?and?mysterious?things.?Human?beings?are?limited?by?their?own,?in?order?to?pursue?the?eternal?culture?phenomenon.?The?taboo?originated?from?Polynesian?languages,?intent?refers?to?sacred?and?extraordinary,?later?extended?to?ban?and?dangerous.?Sacred?concept?known?as?prohibited.?Sacred?things?are?prohibited?that?people?are?free?to?use?and?dispose?of?things,?or?in?some?special?cases,?it?is?prohibited?to?use?ordinary?things.?So?the?sense?of?the?sacred?and?forbidden?is?closely?related?to?the?concept,?the?two?rely?on?each?other.?Religion?can?be?maintained?in?the?taboo?of?the?sacred.?The?authority?of?the?taboo?originated?from?religion.?Therefore?taboo?originated?from?the?birth?of?religion,?religion?in?taboo?to?realize?its?own?sacredness.?Contrast of tabo
