Abstract Objective To investigate the risk of insulin injection outside the hospital by patients themselves.
MethodsFrom January to December 2010, 152 patients including 83 in the old-aged group and 69 in the middle and
young-aged group were investigated through telephone or home follow-up on insulin injection outside the hospital by
themselves. Problems found in the investigation were categorized and analyzed. Contents in the investigation mainly
included correct usage of the equipment of insulin injection, standard injection of insulin, blood sugar monitoring and
glycopenia treatment. The risks of insulin injection outside the hospital and the reasons of these risks were analyzed in
both the two groups, and solutions were put forward. ResultsA total of 152 questionnaires were distributed, and 131
were retreated, including 73 from the old-aged group and 58 from the middle and young-aged group. For the item of
