Correspondent: CHEN Dong-ming, E- mail: chendm @ mail. neu. edu. cn) Abstract: In view of the existing algorithm that is unable to take better account of the network connectivit and the attributes of individual nodes comprehensivel , the limitation of the t pical algorithms of agglomerative and divisive clustering w as anal zed, thus defining conceptuall the edge loading, edge weight, connectivit threshold and graph segmentation. Then, a new algorithm SoNetCD based on BFS ( breadth-first-search ) is presented for discovering the communities in social netw orks, w hich takes both network topolog and edge w eight into consideration. Inter-communit edges are cancelled to reveal the communit structure in the algorithm, thus judging exactl the inter-communit and low ering the failure rate of cancelling inner-communit edges. Experimental results of a rea-l world
