Great Trees Are Good For Nothing But Shade: The Case Of Job Decision

Introduction
In Japan, there is a famous saying : 大船に乗ったようだ .” It means the big ship is much better to take, for its safety and stability. Similarly, in English, Great trees are good for nothing but shade almost has the same meaning. All these sentences convey a message to us: when choosing job, it seems that the large company is better than small company for its large scale that makes you feel safety. Suppose I am a male senior student from HeYuan at Shenzhen University with a major in Japanese. I also have an excellent command of English as well. Now I have two job offers:one from a large Japanese trading company and another from a small American company specializing in IT. The initial salary is the same .Which job should I select? This essay will give a comprehensive study of each choice, including the advantage and disadvantage of them in terms of intellectual stimulation, collegiality, duration of employment, etc. Also, context culture and “Universalism vs. Particularism would be taken into consideration. And finally, there would a final choice between these two alternatives and the reasons of doing this.
Theoretical Perspectives: the big one or the small one?
Traditionally, the big company has been characterized with better pay and increased stability. As for small company, they pay lower but have potential future upside, flexible management. There are so many advantages and disadvantages of each type of company, apart from this, context culture and “Universalism vs. Particularism” are important factors. Here we discuss them in these three different kinds of aspects:
