For upto 4 units in parallel , this is exactly like say 2 or 3 units in parallel. Say for 4 x 480 KVA configurations - you will need: DP3480E - 4 units Parallel Card for DP3480E - 4 units (1 sitting inside each unit) MCCB Box - 4 units (1 for each UPS) Service Bypass for 4 x DP3480E - 1 unit (specify redundant n+1 or full power i.e. whether load is 480 x 3 KVA or 480 x 4 KVA) Electronic Static Switch - Built in every unit (no need to add deperately) The diagram will be exactly same as for 2 or 3 x DP3480E or 4 x DP3480E. For more than 4 units, we shall need an External Static Switch - so the things will change to:Say for 6 x 480 KVA DP3480E - 6 units Parallel Card for DP3480E - 6 units (1 sitting inside each unit) MCCB Box - 6 units (1 for each UPS) Service Bypass for 6 x DP3480E - 1 unit (specify redundant n+1 or full power i.e. whether load is 5 x 480 KVA only or 6 x 480 KVA - in example below it is 5 x 480 KVA) Electronic Static Switch - External to be capable of handling full power of load (say 6 x 480 KVA for full power or 5 x 480 KVA for redundancy - in example below it is 5 x 480) This diagram will look something like: In this option, the load is 5 x 480kVA = 2,400 kVA, which can be handled by 5 UPS modules. The 6th module is parallel operating and sharing the load in redundant operation. Normally on full load operation, each of the 6 UPS active modules is running at 5/6th i.e. about 85% load only. An external Static Switch is used to handle any overloads outside the rating of Online Operation or failure of more than 1 module. The Static Switch is rated for 5 x 480 KVA load.
