Introduction When we turn the thick and wonderful film history, we must be attracted to a type of film deeply. From the silent era to the computer graphics imaging, magic movie could always lead us into a mysterious and suspenseful world. In the east of this world, the Taoist priests who have divine poise and sage-like features speed across the sky, and raise their horsetail whisks saying jijirulvling to exorcise evil spirits. In the west, the frail and malnourished magician has the awesome power that is far beyond their appearance. Whether it is a small lighting technique or the burst fireball technique which can destroy tall buildings, people will always struck dumb with fear when they touch them for the first time. We can see that in the east and west magic movies, there is a great difference about the history, myth, and even the description of magic. Between two kinds of different cultures, the magic connotations also have great differences. Therefore the focus of this paper is to discuss the different cultures and spirits between the east and west magic movies. This paper compares different manifestations, different magic images and the different spirit through various kinds of magical elements. It aims at improving cognition of the cultural connotation national differences which the east and west magic movies show. And also make people recognize that the spread of eastern culture at a disadvantage status compared with western culture. Ⅱ. Overview of East and West Magic Movies The magic movie contains much magic that interprets human nature based on the antediluvian myths, lives, creation, propagation, lust, jealousy, strife, destruction, bizarre plot and colorful role to show that human beings differ from the animals by two features - logic and aesthetics.
