T herandom particle trajectory model (PTM) was proved to be an effective way to predict the axial transport of particles in the rotary kiln. Effects of feed rates on the mean residue time were studied when the holdup was less than 10%. T his model is more accurate than existing ones in pre- dicting the mean residence time and mean volume flow of particles in the rotary kiln.
