Man of the Moment 学生用文字稿

Lesson Five Man of the Moment By Alan Ayckbourn About the Author born in 1939, British playwright, actor, and theater director best known for his farcical dramas about the British middle class. He is now a full-time theatre director. Working both at the Royal National Theatre in London and at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in the Round, Scarborough. He has written over 50 comedies, many of them works of startling technical ingenuity with surprising quantities of pain and sorrow in them. He is one of the world’s most commercially successful dramatists, and has demonstrated over a long and constantly evolving career that it is possible to be both a popular and a serious artist. He has been called “a left-wing writer using a right-wing form”, and “the most acute analyst of contemporary British society”, although he occasionally insists that his only intention is to entertain. His plays How the Other Half Loves (1969) Absurd Person Singular (1973) The Norman Conquests (1974) Absent Friends (1975) A Chorus of Disapproval (1985; motion-picture version, 1989), Man of the Moment (1990) The Revengers’ Comedies (1991) Time of My Life (1993). Quote from ?An Interview of Alan Ayckbourn? IClare Coulson interviews Sir Alan Ayckbourn and gives a brief insight into the mind of Britain’s most famous contemporary playwright. The theme really just occurs, I sometimes look around deliberately but most ideas have been expressed before, it’s finding a different way to tell it. Quotes from the Author on ‘Man of the Moment’ (1) “Man of the Moment is quite a bleak play, about unpleasant things… I think the moral climate at the moment is not what it should be.” —Interview, 1988 “Man of the Moment depicts a direct confrontation between good and
