(College of Chemistry and Materials ScienceAnhui normol university, Wuhu, 241000, China) Abstract: We have developed an efficient FeCl3–Catalyzed method for the synthesis of the coumarin derivatives.The protocol uses iron(Ⅲ)chlorine as the catalyst,and furnished the expected product in good to satiesfied yields by a two-component reaction of salicylaldehyde and malononitrile derivatives in ethanol absolute at 70℃ for 8h in the presence of coumarin.This novel synthetic protol is selective,effcient and general.A plausibe mechanism for the progress is proposed.And we also have a correspondent reseach on Na2CO3 catalyst when the yield is better than FeCl3.The structure of all the
